Meet Woz, the man who is making the remarkable trip from his home in East Bendigo (Victoria), all the way to Parliament House in Canberra (ACT) to raise awareness for Motor Neurone Disease (MND).
Woz made his way to Wagga Wagga on Saturday, 16 March and stayed at the Union Hotel with his crew.
Locals were very excited to have Woz in Wagga, supporting him to raise awarness for MND and get signatures for his petition (read more about this on Woz’s official Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/groups/mowdownmnd/)
MND is a disease that affects nerves known as motor nerves, or motor neurons. In MND, these neurons degenerate and die over time, causing muscles to become weaker and weaker, eventually leading to paralysis.
Unfortunately, Woz fell off his wheelchair while in Wagga and injured himself. Thankfully though, he made a speedy recovery and insisted to get back on his lawn mower and continue his mission after the small hickup in his schedule.
The Wagga Ambulance crew did a fantastic job to arrive on the scene and make sure Woz received excellent care. Thanks to the prompt medical care, Woz was able to get back up and continue his journey.
